What did I unwrap today?
Prickly Moses ChainSAW
Wheat Ale, 4.6%
These beers are brewed at a winery called Otway Estate in Victoria, with pure rainwater! How is that for cool! Even though these beers are in my neighbouring state, I don’t see a lot of them around, so I was pretty pleased to open this one up and have a crack at it!
My thoughts on the beer
Listed as a wheat ale, but not a Belgian style…I don’t think, perhaps more of an American Wheat Ale? It poured a pretty light golden orange/yellow colour with a nice layer of white foamy head. I get a bit of citrus on the nose, backed with some yeasty esthers, quite pleasant. A nice fruity flavour with low carbonation, meaning it flows down fast without fizzing back up your nose! Lightly flavoured and dry with a mild bitterness, this beer isn’t going to be a hop heads cup of tea, but also isn’t going to offend too many drinkers either.
What food would go with this beer
Just need to keep it light and simple with this one, stick with some poultry, maybe a simple chicken wing with a bit of light seasoning…you know I love the wings! Or you could go with a chicken salad on a summers day and you wouldn’t skip a beat with this one, but we all know that salad is not really a meal…stick with the wings!
